Tiger sorghum, bred for ethanol production

HSR Seeds have developed a breed of sorghum specifically for ethanol production that contains a high grains starch percentage. The breed is called Tiger and HSR Seeds are talking up it potential despite the fact that limited stocks of the seed are available this year.

HSR Seeds set out to develop a good, sound variety that would not only deliver high yields, large, heavy grain and high starch but also offered growers both consistency and adaptability.
Six independent trials with NSW Agriculture during the 2005/2006 season showed it out-performed competitive varieties in terms of average grain yields.
