New biodiesel plant for Bomen (Wagga Wagga)

Riverina Oils and Bioenergy have submitted a major project development application to the New South Wales Government for the development of a biodiesel plant at Bomen, just North of Wagga Wagga.

The $75m plant is to be integrated with an oilseed crushing facility and will primarily use canola and safflower oil seeds grown in Australia. Crushing capacity will be 500 tonnes per day.

  1. Is this project of Riverina Oils and Bioenergy in Bomen a revisitation of the one mentioned by ABC on 13/08/07 involving Riverina Biofuels in Deniliquin?
Thank you in advance for any information on the subject.
    Best Regards

  2. Hi Alain,

Riverina Biofuels restates Deniliquin commitment is the article you refer to.

I can’t say with 100% certainty but I don’t think Riverina Biofuels and Riverina Oils and Bioenergy are the same company. A search on the ASIC web site reveals that Riverina Biofuels is registered in Camberwell VIC. Riverina Oils and Bioenergy is registered in Bulleen, VIC and was previously known as Riverina Natural Oils.

From that I’m deducing that despite the similarity in names the two companies are not related. I may be wrong.

  3. I think they are one and the same, I believe there were financial problems with Deniliquin. The first project seemed like blue sky stuff to me. Others have built biodiesel factories when the grants were handed out, but these guys dragged the chain.

They seem to have sourced new capital and these people putting the money in have taken control.
