KillaCycle electric drag bike sets a new record

The KillaCycle made drag racing history at Pomona, California on the weekend of 10 and 11 November when it became the first electric-powered vehicle to cover the 1/4 mile in less than eight seconds!

Last time we reported on the KillaCycle it was powered by a total of 990 A123 Systems M1 lithium ion cells, had a power output of over 257 kW and covered the 1/4 mile in 8.168 seconds.

Now it has 1210 cells weighing 84kg. For the record breaking run all 1210 cells were warmed up and delivered 367 kW to the rear wheel. The bike got good traction on the cold track and posted a best ever 60 ft time of 1.14 seconds and a quarter mile time of 7.82 seconds at 270 kilometers per hour!
