Wimmera Biodiesel encourage farmers to grow their own fuel

Wimmera Biodiesel is presently building a biodiesel plant in Kaniva, Victoria, which will produce biodiesel from mustard seed, canola seed and tallow. The plant is expected to be on line by February 2008.

The plant is a joint project between BE Bioenergy and Grown Fuel. Kaniva is a large oil seed growing area and Wimmera Biodiesel are encouraging local farmers to produce biodiesel for on-farm use. In an excellent example of sustainable fuel production Wimmera Biodiesel are offering farmers the opportunity to simply grow and deliver mustard seed or canola to a nominated delivery centre. The grower is subsequently entitlement to take delivery of the biodiesel made from their seed.

Wimmera Biodiesel are holding an open day for shareholders, community members and the media on Friday the 16th November. There will be tours every half hour and a free BBQ.
