First Melbourne bicycle parking pod site decided

Bicycle Victoria and Melbourne City Council have been working together on a project to install bicycle parking pods in two Melbourne CBD office buildings. The idea is get executives and corporations to give up their car parks and cars in order for the pods to be constructed in ideal locations for two-wheeled commuters. The pods, funded by the City of Melbourne, can hold up to 50 bikes and include two showers, toilet cubicles and lockers.

The first bike pod will be installed in the underground car park of the NAB site at 500 Bourke Street in about mid February 2008. NAB employees will be the envy of cycling commuters country wide.
