BP reaches 100 million litre ethanol blended fuel milestone in Queensland

Queensland motorists’ increasing support for ethanol blended fuel is driving the growth of BP’s ethanol blended fuel. The BP New Unleaded is a specially formulated 91 octane unleaded petrol with up to 10 percent renewable ethanol, and is now being sold at 61 services stations across QLD and the ACT.

BP Australia revealed its plans to expand the rollout of New Unleaded to an additional 25 service stations in Queensland before the end of 2007. These plans will see BP triple its sales of ethanol blended fuel in Queensland this year compared to its 2006 sales volumes.

Ethanol contains oxygen, which lowers smog-causing exhaust emissions like carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons. Because ethanol is produced from a renewable source, its contribution to global warming is lower than the fossil fuels it displaces.

Like all BP fuels, New Unleaded is backed by the BP Fuels Guarantee and meets national fuel quality standards. Most vehicle manufacturers, including Holden, Ford, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Hyundai approve of the use of ethanol-blended fuel in the majority of their models.
