It took a while but we finally found out who what supplying the LNG heavy transport trials we recently reported that use Clean Air Power and Westport technology. Yes, Wesfarmers Kleenheat Gas are the suppliers for both trials and according to their web site they are also running a fleet of LNG powered trucks in WA.
Kleenheat operates a number of its own 16-22 tonne GVM Iveco trucks with Cummins dedicated LNG engines. Other customers include a refrigerated transport company operating LNG-powered B doubles and a road train.
In September 2006 Wesfarmers announced the construction of a $138m LNG plant in Kwinana WA. The plant is to produce 175 tonnes of LNG per day for the heavy-duty vehicle, industrial gas and remote power station markets. We have it on good authority that there are arrangements in place with several transport operators who are committed to take LNG for HDV use once the plant is commissioned in the 1st quarter of 2008.
The Murray Goulbourn Co-op trial in Victoria is being supplied with LNG by Wesfarmers Kleenheat through Gasnet in Dandanong.
