Biodiesel appears to be the obvious alternative fuel choice for the trucking industy but in this economy minded industry there are concerns about the quality and performance of some biodiesels. Other news in the industry seems to be centred around a number of diesel electric hybrids from ArvinMeritor, Hino, Freightliner and Volvo. However, the only real alternative fuel news we’ve come across lately seems to be Clean Air Power converting 14 Mitchell Corporation truck to run on a combination of
compressed liquid natural gas and diesel.
With the likes of Cummins Westport and John Deere producing purpose built CNG truck and bus engines it is possible Australia will see much more compressed natural gas in the transport industry in the future.
