Biodiesel facing tough times?

It is very ironic that the biodiesel industry is now struggling to survive in Australia. Biodiesel should have been the most easily adopted of all alternative fuels in this country but revisions to Federal fuels excise on 01 July 06, increasing feedstock prices due to the drought and decreasing oil prices have made it very difficult for the biodiesel industry to get the start we were hoping for.

This Australian Biodiesel Group company announcement highlights the impact of the changes on one of Australia’s larger biodiesel companies.

The West Australian reports that the shares of Natural Fuel Limited, the biodiesel company most recently listed on the ASX, has suffered from the industry wide trend in declining biodiesel share prices.
